- Beliefs: Origin of Modalities

This aptly applies to social media due to the way it operates, which is a perfect metaphor for how beliefs work.
As previously written in “Gravity of Beliefs”, the moment one believes something it instantly self-reinforces, creating feelings, thoughts, and actions. One’s actions are rooted in thought. One’s thoughts are rooted in feelings. One’s feelings are rooted into beliefs. There’s never been a moment in any human’s life without beliefs. Beliefs are what makes us human.
All of those self-reinforcements – decades of them – make us think that everything we believe is true, and believe everything we think is true. We’ve got decades of self-reinforcing thoughts. Your social media is a digital repository of your beliefs, a keyword driven mirror designed to subtly coerce you to its corporate artificial intelligence point of view.
That’s to say social media has an algorithm that serves as its belief system with keyword driven self-reinforcing parameters that determine what you feel, think, and do – just like your beliefs determine how you perceive the reality you created.
At the end of the movie “War Games”, the computer displays a read out, “The only way to win is to not play.” I write this in full knowledge that I cannot persuade anyone to understand how their own beliefs work. All I can do is what Plato was getting at when discussing the ‘Allegory of the Cave’ with his brother and Socrates: bring you out of the self-reinforcing caves of social media and artificial lights of television, out into the sunshine in hopes that you can perceive that all of the shadows do not reflect reality.
